About Brooklyn

Situated on the northern point of Sydney and located in the Hornsby Shire Council, Brooklyn is widely recognised as the “Jewel in the Shire’s crown”. Otherwise known to many as the charming fishing village on the right when crossing the Hawkesbury bridge northwards on the M1.
A place for picnicing, boating, fishing and oysters leases, it is also a ferry point to Dangar Island and Wobby Wobby, start of the Oxfam walk, rest point on the Great Northern Walk and starting point for the Bridge to Bridge boat race.

In its own right Brooklyn has many natural landmarks, sites of historical significance, sporting fields and recreational opportunities. The community supports a local primary school of 100 children, a community run childcare centre, thriving sporting clubs – soccer, sailing (etc) and a very active volunteer fire brigade.

Brooklyn’s beauty and charm draws people from artistic practice and creative industries to the area, cultivating a rich map of events and cultural exploration.

Catering to locals and visitors, Brooklyn’s businesses cover the ubiquitous Fish and Chips expected of a fishing town as well as providing for other palates. There are shops to cover basic needs such as health, groceries and accommodation, and others to tempt. Under the surface key businesses offer infrastructure services across the region and others work into global markets.
