Post Office Closure

Friday 21st April 2023 – Great meeting with Julian Leeser, Member for Berowra re the demise of Brooklyn Post Office and what Australia Post should be considering to resume its postal and financial services (and Opal card refills) to the Brooklyn and river communities of Wobby, Dangar Island, Wondabyne, Cogra Bay, Cheero Point, Mooney Mooney, Bar Point, Marlowe, and Milsons Passage.
Julian is taking the fight up to the CEO of Australia Post and Minister. On Julian’s advice, we will get a petition out to all community groups to share and sign and perhaps an online one as well.
Thank you to all those residents, business owners who turned up and spoke about the impact of the loss of these services, personal and business banking needs out the window, opportunity to buy printer inks and other stationery items out the window, the hardship for elderly residents and others to get to an alternate location and the time taken for many now to travel to Berowra, especially the river based residents. Julian was passionate, identifying that having a postal service is a fundamental of a civil society and part of the fabric of our community. He stayed for over an hour listening and his advisor was on hand, taking down notes which was great.

Please help our communities and write to your federal member letting them know your own stories and impact on your and/or your business.

Please copy in president@brooklyncommunity.org.au so that we can also continue our advocacy in our approach to the banking and finance Ombudsman.
